Monday
28th December |
We have
all had a lovely Christmas. Plenty to eat and log fires
to keep us nice and warm. Me and Amber have eaten loads
of turkey, so it's just as well that we have been out
for long runs in the fields, otherwise we would be getting
FAT. I learnt a new trick that no one showed me ~ I kept
pinching the Almonds out of the nut bowl, cracking them
with my very strong teeth and sharing them with Amber.
I love Almonds. Boss Woman told me off, because she says
they are her favourite nut as well. Boss Woman had to
take the Walnuts out of the nut bowl though, as apparently
they are poisonous if me and Amber eat them. For Christmas,
I got a new blue translucent frisbee that can either float
or fly and Amber got a new pink hard ball (she chewed
the other one to bits .. ). Boss Woman has been ringing
people up today to arrange for the baby pygmy goats that
she is going to get. Luckily, I don't think they will
have horns. We went to Skatie shore
today and chased loads of rabbits. It has been so cold
here at night, it was - 8 degrees last night, it's a good
job Boss Woman puts me a heat pad in my cage at night
when I go to bed because I am always shivering. Boss Woman
is looking after someone's budgie, called Buddie. He can
get a bit noisy sometimes when he is singing and whistling.
|
Monday
21st December |
Ted the
Cairn Terrier x Collie went for a run today with us, in
the fields. He is a bit boisterous and annoys me and Amber
by jumping all over us, but he is great fun and we play
chasing with him. He does get a bit silly sometimes though
then we have to growl at him or bowl him over. He seems
like a quick learner so we will soon have him sorted out.
He lives down the road from where we live It was so cold
down the fields It must have been very cold at night because
Boss Woman said the thermometer was reading -8 degrees.
Boss Woman is making us wear a stupid
'hoodie' when we go out for a run. I don't like it at
all. She said that we need it on because we only have
short coats, unlike Ted who has a long coat.
|
Sunday
13th December |
We went
shopping in Aberdeen yesterday (well Boss Woman did, we
stayed outside the shops with Big Guy). It was really
really busy and me and Amber nearly got trodden on a few
times. Outside Union Square, there were people playing
Christmas songs on drums and one of them had a whistle.
I didn't like the whistle noise and I barked all the time
to make the whistling stop. The man with the whistle was
laughing at me and kept stepping forward to make me bark
even more, Boss Woman liked the music and laughed at me
for barking. Boss Woman and Big Guy bought themself a
pie for the lunch and they shared it with me and Amber.
I liked the music and wanted to
stop and listen to it but Boss Woman made us leave because
stupid Polly wouldn't shut up. Loads of people stopped
and made a fuss of us. In the afternoon we went down the
fields. I saw a hare and chased it, then Polly joined
in chasing it as well. We didn't catch it though, it was
too fast Boss Woman said it was because me and Polly are
too fat to run so fast. Well, that's a bit mean ....
|
Tuesday
8th December |
We had
a really interesting weekend. We all went down to Yorkshire
on Friday. While Big Guy was busy, Boss Woman took us
on a 10 mile walk, it was part of the Cleveland Way. We
walked from Scarborough to Filey on the Coast Path. Boss
Woman was a real wuss, she was scared in case she slipped
and fell off the path. Mind you, it was very muddy and
a bit close to the falling away cliff edge. We were walking
through this field and suddenly 6 giant horned Highland
Cattle appeared over the edge of the hill. Boss Woman
was absolutely petrified and was shaking like a jelly.
She didn't have to worry ~ me and Amber would have looked
after her. We caught the train back
from Filey to Scarborough, after the walk. People didn't
want to stand near us because we were all covered in mud.
Ha Ha. The only person that stood by us on the train was
a very strange man that smelled of stale beer. He said
he was a member of the Real Ale Society and had been trying
them all out. Phew, he was a bit stinky.
|
Wednesday
2nd December |
Boss Woman
got anouther stupid phone call from some firm called Home
Serve. They want to sell her some sort of insurance for
when the outside water pipes freeze. She said they were
stupid and to stop ringing. Gnipper
the grumpy cat chased Polly today. Polly is scared of
the cat and ran away quick. Ha Ha.
|
Tuesday
1st December |
I'm really
disappointed now. Boss Woman ordered me some chuckit balls
from a place in Barnes, London, called the Waggery. They
never sent them so Boss Woman emailed and telephoned them
and they don't even ever reply. Boss Woman is so mad that
she has reported them to Trading Standards. The only reply
she got from The Waggery was a spurious email saying something
about abuse, telling her to open an attachment to see
that they didn't have them in stock. Grrrrr.
|
Tuesday
24th November |
Boss Woman
had a really stupid telephone call today from 099994404.
They even got her name wrong. They were trying to sell
her something. Like, she would be so stupid as to even
speak to a stranger with a foreign sounding accent, with
a dodgy telephone number, who didn't even get her name
right. She said there are some really horrible evil people
who try and steal money off other vulnerable people. She
says they are as thick and horrible as the mud in the
soggy field where we go running. Yes,
but she didn't even hang up on him ~ she left the phone
on the table so it would cost them more money for the
call. It was really funny to hear the voice going ...
Hello? Hello ? She always does that.
|
Friday
20th November |
It's my
birthday tomorrow. Yippeeee I'll be 3 years old. My birthday
present hasn't arrived yet though. Boss Woman says the
postman might bring it tomorrow morning. Today we went
down the fields and saw loads more geese AND 20
swans. Amazing it was. We
got really muddy as well down the fields. It has been
raining so much and there is so much water about, I might
need to wear my lifejacket when we go for a walk. We are
having beef and heart mince to celebrate Polly's birthday.
|
Wednesday
18th November |
An amazing
thing happened today. We went a run down the field as
usual, there were loads of geese at the top of the hill.
Me and Amber chased them and they all took off flying.
There must have been AT LEAST 400 all flying around making
a right racket. I think Boss Woman was concerned in case
they pood on her head. Me and Amber chased them all over
the field, up, down, round and round. Great fun it was.
It's my birthday on Saturday, I am 3 years old. Boss Woman
has sent away for a nice present for me ~ it is an especially
hard ball that fits in the chuckit. Apparently it is so
strong, that even dogs with jaws like me and Amber, can't
destroy it. Ha Ha, we'll see. Boss Woman says if it is
fine on Saturday, like not raining, then she will take
us down to St. Cyrus beach to celebrate my birthday.
I like it down at St. Cyrus beach and we get to run miles
and miles and go in the sea as well. I wonder if Boss
Woman will sing Happy Birthday to Polly, like she did
last year. I hope not, she can't sing for toffee. Raw
mince for tea, which I really like.
|
Thursday
12th November |
We went
in the Forest for a walk yesterday tea time. It was soooo
dark, pitch black even. Not that me or Amber were scared
or anything, we loved it but Boss Woman was getting a
bit narky because she said she couldn't see us when we
ran ahead. I think she needs to buy some specs ~ strong
ones. I mean, we were only JUST in front of her, except
when we chased after the deer. I think Boss Woman was
scared of slipping because she was walking very slowly
and very carefully. She even put us on lead in the end
because she complained she couldn't see where we were.
Sigh ..... We have never been in
the Forest when it has been so dark before. There were
loads of different sounds than there is during the day.
Me and Polly liked it and ran round and round playing
chasing, it was really exciting. We got really muddy as
well.
|
Sunday
1st November |
NOW
you will not believe where Boss Woman is going. Next year
she is off on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Scary stuff.
I hope she doesn't fall off the mountain or anything. I
think she has gone mad. She is scared of heights and narrow
paths. The whole garden has flooded
again. When we went out, the water went nearly up to my
knees. The ducks like it though. |
Wedmesday
28th October |
We all
went to a new beach today for a lovely long walk ~ Newburgh
sands. It was really lovely with plenty of people to meet,
things to see and birds to chase. Boss Woman was talking
to someone about the wildlife and there was a man with
a MASSIVE camera lens taking pictures of the Ythan Estuary
with all the birds and seals. A man with a black labrador
(he gave us a biscuit) told Boss Woman not to let me and
Amber swim in the Estuary ~ he said that this summer,
a small dog that had been swimming in the Estuary had
been taken and eaten by seals. There were a lot
of them all swimming about, sneaky like. We were watching
the seals sneaking up on the ducks and cormorants, no
doubt to catch and eat them as well! It was 18 degrees
today ~ really hot when it should have been really cold
for this time of year. We walked
for a long way and Boss Woman kept throwing a stick in
the sea for us to chase after. I did wonder if she was
trying to make the seals get hold of us AND she was telling
someone that she wouldn't mind swapping us for a new puppy.
I hope she was kidding? Lungs for tea. Yum.
|
Tuesday
27th October |
Crikey,
I think Amber needs to learn to swim as soon as possible.
The whole place is flooded with all the heavy rain we
are having. The garden, the fields, Big Guy's garage,
everything is under water. Boss Woman said we might need
to build an ark and then we can call Big Guy Noah ~ although
I am not sure what she is on about. We found a dead Robin
in the garden that had been blown about by the wind. Last
Friday night, we all went down to the Forth Road Bridge
to pick up some meat for me and Amber. We had a car full
of raw dog meat and Big Guy had to hold me on his knee
on the drive back, because I was trying to eat it all.
Oooohh it did smell nice. It's all in the freezer now.
I was a bit worried in the fields
today. Where we normally run about in the grass, there
was so much water that it almost came up to my chin AND
me and Polly got really muddy so Boss Woman had to wash
our feet in soapy water. Beef for dinner.
|
Tuesday
20th October |
Me and
Amber have just been in kennels for a week while Boss
Woman and Big Guy floated off to France. I don't like
it in kennels and I was so upset and barking all the time
for Boss Woman that I have lost my voice and can't bark
properly yet. Boss Woman reckons it is so peaceful now
I have lost my bark. She is so mean ... I really didn't
like it in kennels either and I missed my long walks in
the Forest. Polly had to go to the
vet today to have a needle put in the lump on her toe.
|
Wednesday
7th October |
A new walk
today at Fettercairn. Loads of lovely new smells, new
things to chase ~ partridge, pheasants AND 2 black grouse.
They all flew away though, they were a bit fast for us
to catch. Polly got into trouble
~ she ate a dead mouse even though Boss Woman told her
not to. Serve her right if she gets bellyache.
|
Tuesday
6th October |
Me and
Amber have been really poorly this week. We both have
something called kennel cough. Boss Woman said it is just
like a bad cold in human people. We have been sneezing
and coughing. We still go for runs in the fields and forests
though ~ we are not that poorly. Boss Woman has been sorting
out for our next big walk next May. From Milngavie (near
Glasgow) all the way up to Fort William. Can't wait, I
love walking a long way, especially somewhere I haven't
been before. You can sponsor me if you like. We will give
the money to the Staffie Rescue again, because Boss Woman
said that some dogs don't have anyone to look after them
just yet and so they need the money to pay for their vets
bills and food while they find a nice home. Big Guy is
really busy now ~ he is having to fix in a new boiler,
because the old one blew up and left sooty smoke everywhere.
What a mess. Polly was terrified
and shaking with fear when the boiler exploded.
|
Monday
28th September |
I had to
go to the vet today. My front toe is really sore and swollen.
The vet said it was either a blackberry thorn or something
stuck in it, OR an interdigital cyst (whatever that is).
I have to take some horrible MASSIVE tablets for a whole
week. I had to go for a rabies jab as well for my for
my pets passport. I don't like the vet, he frightens me
and I shake like a jelly when I go into the surgery. The
vet said Gnipper the cat had to have special 'Senior'
Cat food now she is nearly 17 years old. Boss Woman complained
that the ANIMALS are costing her a fortune!
|
Sunday
20th September |
Me, Amber
and Gnipper the cat went sniffing out a rat under the
log store today. We knew it was there AND we heard it
sqeaking. Me and Amber chased it down the garden but it
ran away. Boss Woman was a bit annoyed today, she found
some dog poo next to our garden fence. She said it was
from the Labrador that lives across the road. She took
it back and left it outside the guys gate. She said it
was disgusting and very lazy of the owner and she doesn't
see why he can't clean up after his dog, like she does
after me and Amber. The cat caught
the rat as it ran away from me and Polly. The cat was
struggling with it and it bit her, then it ran away again
under the shed. We'll just wait until later, we are sure
to catch it again.
|
Thursday
17th September |
Loads of
geese flying over today, I think it's a sign that summer
is now over. That's probably why the swallows have all
gone ~ to make room in the sky for the geese. Boss Woman
must be getting better from her cold now, because she
took us on a lovely 2 hour Forest walk today. Lovely smells
in the Forest today ~ blackberries, mushrooms, wet leaves,
dead rabbits .... I had to go to
the vets AGAIN today. I don't like the vets, they always
put a thermometer up my bum. I ate a corn cob and everyone
was worried in case it got stuck inside me, because apparently
corn cobs can't digest in my tummy. The vet said that
Boss Woman had to check my poo, Ha Ha, to make sure the
corn cob had come out the other end. That'll teach her
for always telling me off.
|
Tuesday
15th September |
Amber got
into BIG trouble today. We went down to Skatie Shore and
Amber was so busy chasing rabbits in the long grass and
digging in the rabbit holes, that Boss Woman couldn't
find her anywhere. Even though Boss Woman was shouting
for her, Amber never appeared for about 10 minutes. Boss
Woman was really cross and then when Amber came back,
she got a massive telling off. It was 19 degrees today,
it was lovely and warm. I think all the Swallows have
now gone home, as we haven't seen any for a few days.
Tell tale Polly. Boss Woman wasn't
so mad anyway ~ she gave me loads of her Blackberries,
which were lovely and juicy and make my poo turn black.
|
Monday
14th September |
Boss Woman
is feeling really sorry for herself today. She has a really
bad cold and she was really narky with us today, just
because we were pinching her blackberries out of the bag
when she was picking them. I mean, it's not our fault
she has a stupid cold. She has been busy working this
morning on something called tidal power ~ it sounds like
something that I do when I go swimming. Ha Ha. Another
thing ~ Boss Woman nearly suffocated me today with hugging
me. Some of the hens had escaped, so Boss Woman called
took me out to help her ~ she told me what to do and I
went round, quiet like, rounded them up and drove them
back in the pen AND I didn't even try and catch or bite
one (like Amber would). I don't
care, hens are stupid creatures anyway. They get me all
excited when they flap around and squawk which makes me
want to catch them and eat them.
|
Monday
7th September |
Boss
Woman picked loads of Blackberries today. She gave me and
Amber some as well, which make a change as normally she
keeps them all herself. I got stung on my foot by a stupid
wasp and it really hurts now and there is a big lump on
my toe. Boss Woman got stung by a wasp on her arm the other
day when she was picking Raspberries.
I caught a rabbit down at Skatie Shore as well. |
Monday
27th July |
You'll
never believe what Boss Woman is wanting to get now? A pygmy
goat. What on earth she wants one of them for, I don't know.
You'd think she had enough bother with the chickens and
ducks. I hope she realises that goats eat EVERYTHING .....
probably including dogs! I hope she knows what she is doing.
Big Guy didn't say anything. I think he has given up on
talking sense into her. Mind you, Big Guy didn't want to
get me either, so it's a good job she doesn't always listen
to him. |
Friday
24th July |
Me
and Boss Woman went down to Dunkeld today and we called
at Caly Forest for a walk. We got followed all the way by
a black Labrador that was all by itself. Boss Woman spent
30 minutes on her mobile ringing round to get hold of the
dog warden. We all got wet through and were waiting in the
Forest for 2 and half hours for the dog warden to collect
him. The dog warden scanned him and apparently his name
was Ben and he lived in Birnham (near Dunkeld). On his tag
it didn't have his telephone number. Boss Woman said that
Ben's owners were really stupid inconsiderate idiots and
that if his telephone number had been on his tag then she
could have delivered him home in 10 minutes, instead of
spending 30 minutes on her mobile phone and 2 and half hours
waiting in the pouring rain for someone to collect him.
She said they should have taken better care of him and that
the poor dog was lucky that we found him. |
Thursday
23rd July |
Remember
the tadpoles that Boss Woman brought back from the Forest?
Well, some of them have turned into the tiniest little frogs
you have ever seen and are jumping all over the garden.
Big Guy has been banned from mowing the lawn in case he
cuts them to bits. Boss Woman had an enormous double scoop
ice cream today, with chocolate bits, marshmallows and toffee
sauce. The ice cream was melting all over the floor while
she was eating it and some of it dripped on my tail, so
I ate it off before she could wipe it off. It tasted very
nice, although Boss Woman was a bit concerned because she
says I am not supposed to eat chocolate. |
Thursday
16th July |
Had
a run down to Skatie Shore today. We were chasing rabbits
as usual but they kept running faster than us so we never
caught any. I went swimming in the sea and Amber went paddling.
There was a massive seal swimming about near me. The seals
over by the rocks were making a right racket. Moaning and
groaning. Boss Woman said they were probably mating, whatever
that means. Whatever they were doing, they were very very
noisy and I kept barking at them to tell them to shut up,
but they ignored me. I went paddling
in the sea, the water was lovely and cool round my tummy.
Me and Polly were chasing the Eider ducks in the sea and
Oyster Catchers on the beach. They were making very strange
noises, I'm sure they were laughing at us. |
Monday
13th July |
Just
came back from our holidays in France yesterday. It was
lovely and we all had a good time. We went swimming in the
sea and Big Guy and Boss Woman went biking with us running
at the side of them. Most days it was very hot though so
we couldn't do much walking during the day. The flies drove
me mad and I have big lumps all over me, especially my ears.
One day Amber couldn't do all of the walk because it was
too hot for her and she she had to have water poured all
over her to cool her down.
We went for a walk in the local Forest today. Boss Woman
was picking bilberries ~ she was so mean she wouldn't share
them with us, so we had to pick our own. They were very
nice and juicy. I got to wear my new
lifejacket on holiday, when I went swimming in the sea.
Boss Woman calls me gluggles because I can't swim and I
sink to the bottom of the sea without my lifejacket on.
It was great fun and I got to swim a long way like Polly
does. It was thundering really loud on holiday and me and
Polly were a bit scared until Boss Woman gave us a cuddle.
|
Saturday
20th June |
Big
Buy went with us to Skatie shore today. Me and Amber went
into the sea and I swam out to retrieve a stick. There were
2 seals in the sea, watching us. Boss Woman made me get
out of the water ~ she said the seals could bite my legs
off. Yikes! There was a poodle wanting to play with us,
but I chased it away, because it was trying to pinch my
stick. When I went to see the old ladies on Tuesday for
Therapet, I did a roll over. They were really impressed
and all of them said what a clevel girl I was.
Me and Polly chased 2 black farm cats in the fields on Tuesday
night. I caught one and jumped on it (like I do with our
cat Gnipper) because I wanted it to play. It was really
stupid. It did a high back flip then jumped on my back and
clung there, digging it's claws in. I was running down the
field howling with pain, with the stupid cat still stuck
to my back. Then it jumped off, so I chased it up a tree.
Boss Woman is soooo mean. She was laughing her head off
and said the farm cat was getting revenge for chasing it.
Chased loads of rabbits today at Skatie shore but didn't
catch one. I hope they don't start chasing me back as well
..... |
Monday
15th June |
Another
lovely long walk in the Forest today. The sky was making
very loud grumbling and banging noises for ages and it came
very dark, then it started to rain massive drops. Me and
Amber kept looking up at the sky wondering what all the
noise was about and where it was coming from. We didn't
care anyway, we were too busy chasing things in the Forest
to bother about it. Boss Woman collected some more tadpoles
in a bottle, because she said the tadpole ponds were nearly
all dried up and the tadpoles would die if she left them
there. She has been feeding dead flies to the tadpoles at
home. I liked it when it was raining hard because it made
all these new smells which were very interesting and I was
jumping about all over with my nose in the air, sniffing
them. Boss Woman gave us some of her home made cheese &
bacon biscuits when we got back to the car, which we were
glad of because we were starving with all that running about.
Boss Woman is going to buy me a lifejacket
for when go caoeing, so I don't drown. She says I can't
swim so I'll need one ! |
Monday
9th June |
Boss
Woman went to have a cup of tea with her friend today. That's
where my friend Ben lived. Well, I searched all over for
him; in the kitchen, in the bedrooms, living room, under
the table, behind the settee ..... everywhere. He was nowhere
to be seen, anywhere. Boss Woman told me later that Ben
had to go to the vet for an injection to make him sleep
forever. Apparently he was very old and poorly and could
hardly walk. What a shame. Poor Ben, but at least he is
not in pain anymore. She is planning for us to go on another
long walk next May ~ The West Highland Way. Once again,
if anyone wants to sponsor us (money going to Staffie Rescue)
then please do. |
Monday
8th June |
We
have had been doing a lot of long walking this week. We
went back to the Forest where the tadpoles were and Boss
Woman collected some of them in a bottle because the pool
they were in was nearly dried up and she is going to put
them in Loch Muick when we go walking over to Lochnagar
next week. I like Lochnagar ~ there is the big Loch to swim
in and a big mountain to climb. Last night, her and Big
Guy went to hear this guy called Doug Scott lecturing on
mountain climbing. She even bought a picture of Doug Scott
and Chris Bonnington. Don't know what the big deal is ~
just looks like a couple of old codgers on a rock to me.
I hope she's not thinking about going back to see Mount
Everest again. The nasty tom cat from over the road killed
Charlie Duck, it was chasing the hens all round the hen
run as well, so me and Polly chased it out of the garden.
It had better not come back or else we'll chase it again.
Our old cat Gnipper is scared of it because it fights with
her. We saw 4 hares in the field this week, they were running
about all over and chasing and boxing each other. |
Friday
29th May |
It
is really hot today ~ 21 degrees in fact. We had a long
4 hour walk in the Forest and saw, 2 horses, a field full
of Highland Cattle, 1 woodpecker and 1 dead badger. I kept
jumping into the undergrowth after noises, which I thought
were mice. Boss Woman said they were probably snakes so
best not to jump in the grass after them. We were just going
round a corner on the path, when we saw a ginger bushy pine
martin. It was almost as tall as Amber and about 30"
long from nose to tail. Me and Amber chased it and it ran
up a tree so we couldn't get it. I just stayed under the
tree barking at it and it was too scared to come down. It
didn't half run fast. We were tired when we got home ~ we
had some chicken for our dinner and I'm now going to have
a nap. Me and Polly were really thirsty
so we drank some water from a pool in the Forest. The pool
was full of tadpoles which we swallowed, I swallowed so
many, they made me choke. Boss Woman made us come out of
the pool, which was a bit mean, as we were enjoying chasing
the tadpoles round with our nose. Although Boss Woman did
laugh at me because she said my face was covered all over
in mud. Forests are my favourite of all the walks that we
do. There is always something to smell, hear or chase and
I like them a lot. |
Saturday
23rd May |
I
am really glad to see Boss Woman again. She went floating
off to Rome last week without us and 2 weeks before that
she went to Paris. I don't think I would have liked all
that pavement walking so I was glad that I stayed here with
Big Guy, although I did miss her and me and Amber gave her
the biggest kissy licks you have ever seen when she got
back. The other day I had a massive tick on me and Big Guy
had to pull it out. It hurt and made me yelp. I missed her
a lot as well. I am glad she is back now. She went climbing
up the Tower of Pisa. I don't think I would have liked that
~ I much prefer running in the fields chasing rabbits than
dodging feet. When I went into the kennels, the guy there
said I was so muscly, it looked like I had been 'working
out'. It's probably all those long walks that Boss Woman
makes me do that gives me muscles. I
have a sore eye and Boss Woman had to get some ointment
from the vet to put on it. |
Wednesday
13th May |
Went
to Fetteresso Forest today for a long walk. We had great
fun swimming and playing and chasing floating sticks in
the River Cowie. Me and Amber were barking and growling
a lot when we were playing tug of war with sticks, we had
a great time. We saw a Guy with a Jack Russell and he picked
his dog up when he saw us and heard us growling. I thought
that was really strange, because usually people let their
Jack Russell bite me before they pick it up. A woman who
had a Collie was watching Boss Woman pull some pooey grass
out of Amber's bum, I think she was shocked! Amber is always
getting grass stuff stuck in her bum because she eats so
much of it. Boss Woman called her a Poo Monster. I
found the leg of a deer in the Forest, which I carried in
my mouth back to the car. Boss Woman let me take it home
so I could finish off chewing it at home. Rabbit for dinner,
which I like a lot. |
Tuesday
12th May |
Had
a 10 mile walk in the Forest yesterday. It was lovely ~
there were things to chase, plenty to sniff AND a river
to paddle in. I think Boss Woman was really worried in case
we were lost because she kept stopping and looking round
to see where we were. Well, considering she had forgotten
the map, it would have served her right if she was lost.
Boss Woman got talking to a man with a German Short Haired
Pointer. She asked him if he would swap his dog for her
Black and White one (ME). Not funny at all, so I don't know
why she laughed. I have serious doubts about her sometimes
...I was glad when we got back to
the car because I was very tired, hot and hungry. |
Tuesday
5th May |
We
went down the fields early this morning. We saw 2 hares
fighting in the field so me and Amber chased them. They
soon stopped fighting then and ran away like lightening.
Boss Woman saved my life as well. I was breaking a stick
off a tree with my teeth and some of it got wedged across
the top of the mouth between my teeth. I couldn't spit it
out and whatever I did, I couldn't get it out either. It
was hurting me a right lot and I kept pawing my face to
stop it hurting. Luckily Boss Woman put her fingers in my
mouth and pulled it out ~ she does come in quite useful
occasionally. Then I had Therapet at the Old Folk's Home
at 11 a.m. Someone said that it was lovely to see a little
dog give so much pleasure to the Old People. I don't mind
~ I like giving them kisses and getting all the attention.
Afterwards, we went to Pets at Home for some more bisuits.
Honestly, Polly is so clumsy sometimes.
It's not the first time she has done that, she really ought
to be more careful. |
Wednesday
29th April |
Went
down to Skatie Shore today and had great fun (as usual)
chasing rabbits. Boss Woman was collecting seaweed. She
said she was going to dry it and feed a little bit to us
every day, she said it was good for us. Well! I hope she
knows what she is doing and isn't trying to poison us.....
Someone has been digging into the rocks again down there
and they have made a right mess of the path. Loose stones
everywhere and debris. Boss Woman said it could be quite
dangerous if you didn't watch where you were putting your
feet and whoever had done it were a bunch of idiots ! We
saw 2 seagulls chasing an injured Eider duck which was floundering
in the water and then we saw a bit fat seal as well, which
kept popping it's head out of the water to look at us. I
was drinking sea water and then I got sick this afternoon.
Apparently I can't have anything to eat for 48 hours. I'll
probably be starved to death by then. |
Monday
20th April |
Boss
Woman had to take her car into the garage at Inverbervie
today for it's MOT, whatever that is.. There were loads
of Swallows diving in and out of the Garage, really busy.
I think they were making a nest. We had a lovely walk down
the coast path to Gourdon and met loads of other nice dogs
and a grumpy old fat Labrador that jumped on me so I growled
at it and chased it away. It's very
warm and sunny today. We have been playing in the garden
and digging big holes. |
Monday
13th April |
A
lovely sunny day yesterday and we had a great time on the
beach, chasing the seagulls. It was very busy though with
loads of other dogs and people, Big Guy said it was because
it was holiday time and everyone had come for their holidays.
We had a busy time in the fields today.
Searching out mice in the straw bale, digging for moles,
chasing rabbits, birds, hares and deer. I am sooo tired
now. Chicken for dinner, which I like. |
Wednesday
8th April |
Boss
Woman and Big Guy floated off on some trip to Nepal so she
couldn't update my dog blog. She can be a bit slack sometimes.
They went trekking up to Pangboche on the Everest Trek path
and actually saw Mount Everest. She said it was a bit scary
and very steep and they had to cross the river on wobbly
scary bridges and dodge the Yaks. Some poeple sponsored
them and they got £50 for the Scottish Staffie Rescue.
Anyway, she is back now which I am glad of, because me and
Amber missed her. We had to go into kennels during the week,
which we didn't like very much but we got to eat tins of
doggie meat, which we did like a lot. Went down to Skatie
Shore last Monday and Boss Woman said she saw a gruesome
sight ~ a slug was eating a worm and the worm was all red
and bloated. Yuk ..... We are just off down the field now
for a run ~ no doubt Boss Woman will be washing us when
we get back because it is wet and muddy outside. She's okay,
but she can be a bit fussy. I am soooo famous now, apparently
even people in America are reading all about me. Cool. I
wonder if dogs in America talk with a different accent?
Boss Woman said that it has been proven that birds in different
countries make a slightly different noise than they do over
here in Scotland. I hope she doesn't
go off on some other trip just yet because I missed her
a lot. There are some 'travellers' in caravans at the layby
down the road. They keep driving past our house and looking
in the garden. I don't know why they are called 'travellers'
~ they don't seem to travel very far. They just drive to
the layby down the road and stay there and they leave a
right mess behind with their rubbish all over. Boss Woman
is a bit worried in case they run off with me and Polly.

Tuesday
17th March |
Went
to see the old ladies in Stonehaven today for Therapet.
They all sang Happy Birthday to Boss Woman and made her
a cup of tea. I gave them all plenty of kisses (as usual).
It's lovely, warm and sunny today. 12 degrees in fact but
Boss Woman reckons it will snow next week because she says
it always snows the week after her birthday. Boss
Woman is soooooo greedy. She ate a whole box of chocolates
to herself. I think she feels sick now and if she doesn't,
well she should do! |
Friday
13th March |
Friday
the 13th. Ha Ha. I am not bothered, I am not superstitious!
Boss Woman took us on a new path today, we have never walked
on before. It was lovely and loads of stuff to smell and
see. We saw some huge deer ~ not the small ones we normally
see but HUGE ones. We saw some frogspawn in the ditch as
well AND we heard a woodpecker. |
Sunday
8th March |
Just
come back from a weekend in Aberfeldy, Perth today. We did
loads and loads of walking in the hills. It was snowing
and very cold as well. Boss Woman made me wear my stupid
cagoule that she made me and I had to wear my fleece at
night. Sigh ... I wasn't very impressed. We got to meet
and walk with 20 other people that Boss Woman and Big Guy
are trekking in Nepal with. I really enjoyed it and Saturday
night I got to go to the pub and shared some of Big Guy's
steak pie. I hurt my foot on some chicken wire climbing
over the fence and it is making me limp now because it hurts
so much. Boss Woman said that I ought to learn to watch
where I am putting my feet. Not much sympathy there then!

Tuesday
3rd March
|
We
went on a lovely 5 mile walk in the Forest today. We had
never been in this Forest before and it was really interesting.
I saw my first ever Newt. It didn't smell very appetising
so I didn't eat it. It didn't even jump away when I sniffed
it, I think it must have only just woken up from the winter.
All the birds are getting really noisy now ~ we heard lapwings
and skylarks today, making a right racket and singing away.
We had fish for dinner and a duck
egg, I was well starving when we got back home from the
walk. The ducks are laying eggs now, so we get to have a
duck egg every day. |
Friday
27th February |
Went
shopping to Aberdeen with Boss Woman today ~ well, I stayed
in the car while she went shopping. It's Big Guy's birthday
tomorrow so she bought him a present. I don't know what
it is though but I'm sure Big Guy will show me tomorrow
when he opens it. I wernt for a run down at Skatie Shore
yesterday without Amber. I miss Amber when she is not there
as it's not so much fun chasing rabbits and jumping in the
sea by myself. Boss Woman took me down to St. Cyrus beach
on Monday and there was a Staffie x chasing about all by
itself. It didn't want to play with me or chase me, it just
ran up and down the beach. Boss Woman called it but it just
ran away again. I went sniffing round a bush and a Swan
hissed at me, so I thought I had better leave it alone in
case it attacked me. It looked a bit narky and vicious.
I think it was sat on a nest. I feel
better now but Boss Woman won't let me run off lead yet.
She says I am too mad and run about too much and I have
to take it easy for another week or two. I'm fine, she just
fusses too much. I'm dying to get chasing rabbits into gorse
bushes again. Maybe now I have had my operation, it might
make me run faster then I can catch them as well! |
Friday
20th February |
We
drove a long way yesterday, to take Stella to her new home.
Stella's new Boss Woman rang up my Boss Woman this morning
and said that Stella had been very good and slept in her
new cage all night without the door being closed. Stella
has been all over the place. Long walks, meeting her new
Boss Woman's friends, Pets at Home for some goodies. Stella
saw a little boy in Pets at Home and she didn't even jump
up at him, like she would have done before. She also lives
with a (grumpy) cat and she had chicken for her dinner last
night. Stella has a nice big garden to play in. I pood in
the garden, just to remind Stella that I had been there
and not to forget me. Stella was a
nuisance, but I am glad she has found someone to look after
her properly. I feel a bit better now, especially after
I had some rabbit for my dinner, that the gamekeeper brought
us. I feel sleepy all the time, I think it must be the tablets
Boss Woman is making me have. I hope she is not trying to
poison me. |
Wednesday
18th February |
Amber
came home from the vets on Monday night and then she was
bleeding a right lot and she was very poorly. She had to
go back to the vets yesterday for another operation and
she stayed there last night. She is back now, but she is
not very well and she just wants to sleep all the time.
I hope she will be alright, because I miss her not playing
chasing with me in the fields. A really nice lady called
Irene came to see Stella today. She is going to give Stella
a nice new home. She was very nice and she kept hugging
Stella and saying what a clever girl she was. She hugged
me as well, but not as much as Stella. I
am soooo tired, I just want to sleep all the time. I still
don't feel very well. Boss Woman gave me some nice meat
for my tea which was really tasty. |
Monday
16th February |
Amber
had to go to the vets today for an operation to stop her
having any puppies. Me and Stella got to run in the Forest
down Slug Road, for miles and miles. There was a lot of
deep snow and Boss Woman kept throwing snowballs at us ~
she's always doing it, she seems to find it funny when they
hit us. Sigh .... Me and Stella followed some deer tracks
but we couldn't find the deer. Stella has a good sniffy
nose and she can smell animal tracks before I can. I
don't feel very well now I have come back from the vets.
My tummy hurts a lot. Boss Woman gave me some chicken for
my tea but I didn't eat anything because my tummy hurts
so much. I've got a massive cut on my tummy with a load
of stitches in it. I hope it doesn't leave a big scar and
spoil my looks. Boss Woman said I should feel a bit better
tomorrow but I can't go for a run in the field for 2 weeks.
I have to go for my stitches out next Tuesday. |
Wednesday
4th February |
We
have got my friend Stella Labrador staying with us, until
Boss Woman can find a new home for her. We all went down
to the local beach for a run today and there were loads
of dead seagulls and even a dead seal. We ALL got into trouble
because we had a bite out of the dead seal. Boss Woman was
really narky, she said it just reminded her that we were
nothing but dirty filthy stinking animals. You know, she
has said that before. I wonder who I can report her to?
It's not very politically correct is it ? ~ I mean, EVEN
ANIMALS have rights! I don't like
Stella, she keeps running into me all the time and knocking
me over, just because I am smaller than she is. She came
in very useful on Monday though. On Monday, the leftover
chicken was left on the table and Stella, because she is
a lot bigger than me and Polly, reached up and pinched some
for us. It tasted lovely. |
Wednesday
28th January |
Had
a lovely, but muddy, time in the woods today. Boss Woman
kept throwing a stick for me and Amber to fetch. Trouble
is, she kept throwing down the really steep banking ~ I'm
sure she was trying to make us jump off the edge into the
river below! I woke up at 4 a.m. this
morning. I kept barking to wake everyone up, because I had
seen a fox in the garden. I think the fox was trying to
get to the hens and ducks, but luckily they were all securely
locked up. |
Saturday
24th January |
I
got electrocuted by an electric fence today, when I went
in the field. It really frightened me and I just ran about
crying and limping. What a shock I got! I'll have to watch
out for that next time. The electric fence is supposed to
protect the sheep from predators and stop the sheep from
escaping. It certainly would do that all right. Although
sheep are so stupid and have such thick woolly coats, I
am not sure it would actually stop them from breaking out
of the field. Big Guy and Boss Woman
are going to a Burns Supper tonight. They will be eating
Haggis, neeps and tatties. If I had known she liked Haggis,
then I could have caught her one in the field. I wonder
if Haggis can run fast? |
Monday
19th January |
Crikey,
we had a very busy 2 days, this weekend. Big Guy and Boss
Woman drove all the way down to Leeds in a big Luton Van
on Saturday afternoon that he had hired. It was such a long
way and I didn't like it at all. The van kept rattling and
making strange noises. There was a really loud banging noise
when part of the windscreen trim fell off. It took ages
to get down there and there wasn't much room for me on the
seat to lie down. Big Guy bought fish and chips and me and
Amber got to share a fish, which was really nice as we were
both starving. I don't think I would like to live down in
Leeds, because there wasn't anywhere that me and Amber could
run about off lead. We only got to have an onlead walk.
I got to lie on the floor to sleep.
There was plenty of room for me and I just slept all the
time, although it was a bit uncomfortable with all that
noise and rattling going on. A little boy asked Big Guy
if I was a BULLDOG. Ha Ha. I am much prettier than a bulldog
I think. |
Tuesday
13th January |
I
had to go to the vets today for my parvo jab and other ones.
The vet stuck in right in my neck and it made me jump a
bit. Boss Woman said that some dogs owners don't get their
dogs vaccinated and then they cry when their dogs get poorly
and sometimes die. We went to Skatie Shore today for a lovely
walk. I found a tennis ball. Boss Woman always wonders where
I find them because nearly every time we go there, I find
a tennis ball or golf ball. It's because I can sniff them
out with my super strong sniffy nose. I found a mushroom
thing that Boss Woman said was a puff ball. When I carried
it, all the spore powder stuff came out into my nose and
made me sneeze a lot. I like it at
Skatie Shore because I get to chase all the rabbits. Even
though I can never catch them, it's good fun chasing them
all over the rocks. I caught and killed a rat on Sunday
and it bit me on my nose and made it bleed. Boss Woman said
I was a very clever girl. She put me some Surgical Spirit
on my bleeding nose to clean it and it really really stung
and made my eyes water. |
